FILTERING OF SCATTERED 3D DATA POINTS IN REVERSE ENGINEERING
In this paper, we describe a new filtering algorithm about scattered, unorganized and unordered 3D data points in reverse engineering. This algorithm is suitable for processing data collected by machine vision systems, co-ordinate measuring machines or laser-based range sensors. The filtering is accomplished in two steps. Firstly, the process of looking for the noise data from raw data set is finished by means of calculating the frequency of every sub-box within which data fall and choosing appropriate threshold to find noise data. Secondly, the real information in the location of noise can be recovered according to information of its adjacent data. From the results of some examples, the validity of this algorithm is verified.
