Multiple UWB Emitters DoA Estimation Employing TH-SS
In this paper, UWB DoA estimation using digital channelization receiver architecture proposed in 1 is extended to cover the case of multiple UWB emitters employing TH-SS multiple access technique. The principle behind this method is that the spectral analysis of an ideal TH-SS signal consists of a sequence of discrete spectral lines (as derived in 2), which is unique for a certain combination of hopping sequence. Observation on this sequence suggests that it is possible to obtain a unique frequency series of which spectral lines are from the desired signal and no spectral contribution from other signals. An exhaustive search is performed to obtain two hopping sequences that exhibit the same characteristics. Simulation results show that the direction finding function successfully indicates the DoA of the 1st signal when the channelizers frequencies are set for the detection of that signal, likewise for the 2nd signal.
