Real-Time Atomic Commitment for Mobile Distributed Real-Time Transactions
The inherent characteristics of mobile environments and the timing constraints of real-time systems make the commit processing of mobile distributed real-time transactions to become more complicated. This paper introduces the formal definition of real-time atomic commitment of mobile distributed real-time transactions. On the basis of the above definition, the one-phase real-time atomic commit protocol (1PRACP) suitable for mobile distributed real-time transactions is presented. According to the 1PRACP, the commit processing of a mobile distributed real-time transaction is completed in one-phase through a one-time message exchange between participator and coordinator. Combined with the overtime recovery protocol, the 1PRACP can be free of the blocking which is caused by site failure or failure of communication link. The results of performance comparison and evaluation show that the 1PRACP improves the performances of mobile distributed real-time database systems.
