The application of SuperMap software for constructing a digital elevation model of the Ceyu area, Hebei Province, China
Nowadays, traditional paper topographic maps are abundant, but of limited use. Large-scale digital relief maps are more versatile and are in great demand for geologic work. One essential point is how to use the existing digital topographic map bases to create mass three-dimensional contour maps conveniently. In this paper, we expound how we used the domestic software SuperMap to convert digital elevation model (DEM). We made a high resolution scan of the paper map, extracted contour lines, then performed pretreatment, vectorization,and grid-modeling to create the DEM. We use the 3-D display module to present the final demo.
