Introduction of geological and geochemical characters of Carlin-like type gold deposits, northern Sichuan and southern Gansu of China
The paper refers a adjoining place of the Nanping county, Sichuan province and the Wen county, Gansu province as North Sichuan (north Sichuan) South Gansu (south Gansu). The gold deposits of Lianhe village, North Sichuan and Yangshan, South Gansu are Carlin-like type gold deposits. In 1993, the author published a paper termed as Geological and Geochemical Character of Lianhe village (micrograin-disseminated type)gold deposit, and predicted that there is a high possibility of finding Carlin-like type gold deposit in this area. Since 1997, the No. 12 Division of Gold Group, Peoples Armed Police of China explored the areas for gold deposits. In 2001, they found a large scale gold deposit. In order to compare with the Carlin type gold deposit of the US,the author (1993) have named the gold deposit (micrograin-disseminated type) from the Lianhe village as the Carlin-like type gold deposit.According to Jun et al. (2002) the Carlin-like type gold deposit is formed under the same conditions as Carlin type gold deposit, both of them have same geological and geochemical characters. However,we have thought that the Carlin-like type gold deposit may be totally different from the Carlin type. For example, the ores of the Carlin type is completely sedimentary origin, but the ores of Carlin-like type gold deposit not only has sedimentary origin but could be also derived from veins which suffered the brittle shear structure. So far, there are fourteen Carlin type and Carlin-like type gold deposits which have been discovered in the adjoining place of North Sichuan and South Gansu (Guo et al., 2003). This paper will briefly introduce the geological and geochemical characters of Carlin-like type gold deposits discovered from the area, a more detail description on the deposits is presented by Sun (2005).
