Phanerozoic oceans and folded systems of central and southern Asia
Many contributors consider two basins as main Paleotethys suture. However so short interval of suture formation does not allow to attribute it to a main spreading zone dividing Gondwana continent and ensembles of Tien Shan microcontinents. Solution of this question has basic significance. All both basins take different items. The first was opened during rift ogenesis of southern boundary of Afghan-Tajik microcontinent, whereas the second was incorporated with its northern edge. Both basins developed in short time and were completely closed in the Middle Carboniferous. Their position answers the items of situation of back-arc basin. At the time in the south along the boundary between Northern and Middle Pamir is selected Ishimbulk zone. It has very difficult structure and is placed between Tanimas and Akbaytal thrusts on which Northern Pamir pull on Middle. For Paleotethys suture continuation there can be Herirud peridotite zone in Central Afgkhanistan. Further to west the oceanic suture is reliably installed in Northern Iran in Binalud mauntains and Resht to southern Caspian sea. Main Paleotethys suture is traced continuously from Kunlun up to the Caspien sea.
