Spatial and Temporal Association Based Prefetching Algorithm for Supporting Location-Based Services
Recently, location-based services (LBS) are becoming very popular in mobile environments, and many cache management algorithms are being conducted to support LBS. However, these studies do not exploit the properties of spatial and temporal association of required service classes concurrently. In this paper we propose a prefetching algorithm called STAP (Spatial and Temporal Association based Prefetching algorithm). Our methods are based on analyzing the spatial and temporal associations of the users request using data mining techniques. It is shown through performance experiments that STAP is effective in improving system performance.
