Dynamic Power Management of Complex Systems Using Flow Model

Using software engineering tool Flow Model, a new technique for modeling and solving the Dynamic Power Management (DPM) problem for systems with complex behavioral characteristics will be presented in this paper. We can model the system easily. By the help of Poisson process, Markov decision process, and GSPN, the model can be converted to a Generalized Stochastic Petri Net (GSPN) and then to an isomorphic continuous-time Markov decision process. From the corresponding Markov decision process and Poisson process,we can calculate the optimal DPM policy. Experimental results show that the proposed technique can achieve more than 12% power saving compared to other DPM techniques.
