An Energy-Awared Simulator for Energy Co-estimation in the Embedded System
This paper proposes an implementation method of energy-awared software simulator for embedded hardware platforms, and a novel energy estimation algorithm that supports dynamical power management (DPM). Unlike the traditional simulators, this one can record the function calls, and further generate a detailed profile to describe the energy consumption of each function inside a specific program. In addition, the simulator automatically detects the voltage/frequency variation activated by DPM, and adjusts the energy estimation model accordingly. The experiment results further show the effectiveness of the algorithm and the implementation method.
