Analysis and Simulation of 3GPP Based WCDMA Multi-rate Downlink Data Transmission
In this paper, the bit error rate (BER) performance for the multi-rate data traffic is evaluated for WCDMA with multicode spreading. First, the multi-cell downlink interference model is established and analyzed. Then,components of the simulation system are described. Simulations are accomplished for rural area (RA), typical urban (TU) and hilly terrain (HT) environments,which are proposed by COST 207. It is seen from the simulation results that the BER performance improved significantly with the increase of the SNIR. The multi-code spreading together with Turbo coding is very effective to overcome the multipath as well as multiple access interference.
