Generalised System Identification
Classical system identification (CSI) requires pseudo-random (PR)signals with a perfect auto-correlation function (ACF). Binary signals with such a strict correlation condition are not known to exist, other than the periodic sequence +++-. In this paper, the concept of reciprocal pairs of sequences (RPS) is exploited to define a generalised form of system identification which allows signals with imperfect ACF to be applied to system identification. This method is demonstrated using two types of PR-sequences that were previosuly believed unsuitable for system identification.
