PROGRESS OF CRYOGENIC STORAGE AND TRANSPORT EQUIPMENT
Recent development of the industrial gas and LNG technology brings new approaches to gas distribution challenges. The most obvious are new gas distribution systems and the growth of the sizes of cryogenic equipment in all its branches. The high pressure gas distribution systems are being widely substituted by liquid bulk delivery trucks with direct filling of liquid to customer stationary microbulk vessels 180 to 2000 liters. Examples of the largest tanks from this range, developed recently, are presented with the advantages of process parameters and economical aspects of the system. The size of the trucks was also increased appropriately, up to 15 m3 gross volume. Technology and economy of this FAST system is described in detail.Experience of the microbulk system design was also applied to smaller sizes of standard bulk storage tanks. This made possible to eliminate the disadvantage of relatively higher net evaporation rate at small bulk storage tanks. The cryogenic vacuum insulated storage tanks are currently shop manufactured and transported to site on roads, rivers and sea in sizes up to 700 m3 gross volume.Large quantities of LNG distributed via road in frames of recent projects of LNG virtual pipelines resulted in design of large LNG semitrailers, up to 56 m3 gross volume.Synergy of all these scale-up effects makes cryogenic technology more effective and well accepted in various branches of economy.
