DESIGN OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF SECONDARY LOOP COOLING SYSTEMS IN SUPERMARKETS – COMPARISON OF ENERGY USE AND COSTS
A theoretical case study has been performed comparing five different cases of indirect cooling systems in supermarkets. The influence of the selection of cooling-coil / heat exchanger design and type of secondary refrigerant has been investigated. Most cases are representative for a large number of supermarkets in Sweden, but some are only hypothetical so far. The results show that savings of both energy and cost can be significant, by the selection of efficient cooling-coils / heat exhangers or secondary refrigerant. In order to obtain an efficient system, an iterative procedure is proposed. This procedure is presented and evaluated in this study.
