R12, R134a, AND 152a: CORRELATION OF THEIR THERMO-DYNAMIC PROPERTIES AND COMPARISONS OF PER-FORMANCE INDICATORS WHEN USED IN AN IDEAL VAPOR-COMPRESSION CYCLE
This research study presents the results of a computer simulation of an ideal vapor-compression refrigeration cycle using R12 (an ozone depleting refrigerant) and two non-CFC refrigerants. The simulation program incorporates explicitly correlated saturated and superheated properties of R12, R134a, and R152a. The simulation program was used to generate graphs showing the relative performance of the refrigerants on the following performance indicators: a) volumetric flow rates at compression suction per ton of refrigeration, b) coefficient of performance (COP), c) pressure ratio, d) mass flow rate of refrigerant per ton of refrigeration, e) discharge temperature and f) refrigerating effect. From the graphs generated, analyses were made to determine the potentiality of R134a and R152a as replacements of R12.
