STUDIES ON HEAT PIPE TYPE ADSORPTION ICE MAKER FOR FISHING BOATS

Three types of heat pipe type adsorption ice makers, which were designed for conserving fish on fishing boats, were studied aimed to settle the corrosion between seawater and steel adsorber for ammonia refrigeration system, as well as to improve the refrigeration performance. Three test units, which were one thermosyphon type adsorber test unit and two split heat pipe type adsorption refrigeration systems, were set up, and the split heat pipe type adsorption systems were better than the thermosyphon type adsorption system for the reason of reasonable structure, which could solve the problems of corrosion of waste gas and seawater on adsorber more effectively. Between two types of split heat pipe type adsorption test units, the second generation split heat pipe type system that has the function of heat pipe liquid pumping showed the better refrigeration performance. At the evaporating temperature of -15℃, its average cooling power was 1.37kW, which was corresponding to the coefficient of refrigeration performance COP= 0.41 and specific cooling power per kilogram CaCl2 of each adsorber SCP=731W·kg-1. The value of SCP has been improved more than ten times if compared with the value of the first generation split heat pipe type adsorption system. On the basis of the research work on heat pipe type adsorption systems, a split heat pipe type adsorption ice maker, whose COP and SCP were 0.3 and 458.5 W·kg-1, respectively, has been developed.
