ENERGY CONSUMPTION TRENDS OF AIR CONDITIONING IN RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS IN SHANGHAI, CHINA
Shanghai is a most rapidly developing metropolis in China. The paper introduced briefly the economic and energy situation in Shanghai, and the results of investigation on energy consumption in residential buildings.The paper describes status of air conditioning usage in residential buildings:(1) Higher possession rate of room air conditioner, but lower usage;(2) Main reason of peak electric power load in summer;(3) Poorer indoor environment quality;(4) Higher electric charge comparing with average income.The paper also predicted the energy consumption trends:(1) Longer usage hours with the increasing residents’ income;(2) Increasing demands for space heating and hot water by heat pump;(3) Renewable energy would be used partially;(4) Growing of residential building energy consumption both in gross and in proportion.
