AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEMS IN URBAN AREAS WITH RESPECT TO THE HEAT ISLAND PROBLEM
In recent years, urban areas have been experiencing a rise in the regional atmospheric temperature because of heat island phenomenon, which increases the summer heat. One of the causes of that is an exhaust heat from air-conditioners. In this paper, we analyze dynamic characteristics of a split type air-conditioners operation, taking into consideration the local characteristics within a city because there are local characteristics of the atmospheric temperature. Also, we survey the deterioration in the performance of these air-conditioners and the increase of exhaust heat from them ascribable to the temperature rise caused by the heat island phenomenon. As a result, an air-conditioner’s performance in a rated operation varies by 8.8%, when there is a regional atmospheric temperature difference of 2.7 degrees Celsius. Also, an amount of exhaust heat fluctuates a little in response to the atmospheric temperature.
