ANALYSIS OF HUMAN HEART RATE VARIABILITY UNDER AIR-CONDITIONING ENVIRONMENT

This paper analyzes human heart rate variability (HRV) under air-conditioning environment, and attempts to discuss the mechanism of human thermal comfort from the angle of nerve activities. In the experiment, 33 subjects were divided into three groups. Under different air temperatures (21 ℃, 24 ℃, 26 ℃, 28 ℃ and 30 ℃), the subjects’ electrocardiogram was recorded for 5 min respectively. Human HRV (the ratio of absolute powers in low frequency and high frequency bands, LF/HF ratio) under different environment temperatures was analyzed based on the data of electrocardiogram. Relating to the thermal comfort levels, the results indicates that activities of the sympathetic nerve play an important role in causing subjects’ thermal discomfort, and the LF/HF ratio is assumed to be an effective physiological indicator for human thermal comfort levels.
