RESEARCH ON THERMAL MANAGEMENT PROPERTIES OF A NOVEL THERMAL MANAGEMENT CONTROLLER
The heat source temperature control and thermal management are two of the most common problems in the waste heat recovery system, which make the configuration and control strategy of conventional systems very complex. A novel structure concept, called “Thermal Management Controller (TMC), is presented in this work to provide an alternative to solve these problems. Such a novel device plays the role of compact heat recovery platform in the whole system, and enjoys the merits of structure integration, function integration, and heat input/output integration. An engineering model is formulated in this work to predict the behaviors of TMC during its operation, and computational results based on the model are presented to analyze its thermal management properties. Furthermore, experimental results are presented and show excellent agreement with the calculated results, which verify the correctness of the presented model. It is found that the interaction between heat sources is very small, and the working conditions of heat consumers influence the heat sources little. In particular, the heat supplication to heat consumers shows a very strict priority order. These characteristics indicate good heat source temperature control and thermal management performance of TMC.
