EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH ON APPLICATION OF R417A IN HEAT PUMP WATER HEATER
Heat pump water heaters are now getting into commercial applications in China in recent years. More and more such products have been used in different cases, such as hospitals, schools, hotels, beauty parlors, and so on. R417A, as a type of environmental-friendly refrigerant, is sometimes used in these products. It has similar thermal and physical properties as R22 and can replace R22 directly without any change in designs and components. The application of R417A in pint-sized heat pump water heater was studied in this paper. Some performance parameters, including discharge pressure, suction pressure, evaporating temperature, power, COP and so on, were tested and compared with those of R22 at different ambient temperatures and different water temperatures. The characters of R417A were analyzed and some improvements were also recommended.
