LIFE-CYCLE COST ANALYSIS BASED DECISION-MAKING METHOD FOR VEHICLE TRAVEL SAFETY ON BRIDGES
Crosswind is an important factor for vehicle travel safety. Due to bridge altitude or airflow detour acceleration ,crosswind affection on sea-crossing bridges, valley bridges, and some local area of cable support bridges will be more notable. Adopting wind shielding screens is an effective way to improve bridge deck wind environment; besides, control measures can also be useful to reduce crosswind-caused vehicle accident. However, whether to install Wind shielding screens and apply control measures is a complex problem in decision-making process. Based on life-cycle cost analysis (LCCA), the author proposed a computing method of life-cycle cost for design schemes on vehicle travel safety in this paper, and in which public safety and society benefit were taken into account. At the end a sea-crossing bridge was taken as an example t oillustrate the usage of this method.
