PERFORMANCE RESEARCH ABOUT A NEW TYPE OF OPTIMUM BRIDGE STRUCTURE——SEMI INTEGRAL ABUTMENT JOINTLESS BRIDGE
It is well known that expansion joint of a bridge is a weak part of structure, it leads to early structure destroy and reduces the bridge life. Basing on Life-Cycle Design of bridge structure ,this paper puts forward a new type of optimum bridge structure --- Semi -Integral Abutment Jointless Bridge. Its monolithic structure finite element model is established and its mechanical performance is analyzed roundly.With the mechanical performance analyzed, the plane frame model is adopted to build the monolithic structure finite element model. The effect of the earth fill behind abutment includes static earth pressure and elastic earth resistance when the temperature rises, and it will be active earth pressure when temperature drops, which shows the interaction of structure -soil. During its Static performance analysis, dead load, live load, and seasonal temperature change are in consideration. The theoretical model of monolithic bridge, that is four spans, 100m long and Semi -Integral Abutment Jointless Bridge made of Prestressed Concrete, is built using ANSYS. Five kinds of load combinations are acted on three types of bridge one by one. The result shows that the plane frame finite element model of monolithic structure veritably simulates the interaction of structure -soil, and the theoretical method of the effect of the earth fill behind abutment is reasonable. Finally the author demonstrates that the Semi -Integral Abutment Jointless Bridge not only eradicates the disease of expansion joint, but also extends the structure life. The result shows that its internal force is in uniform distribution, and it has small deformation and large rigidity. In one word, this type of jointless bridge is a kind of durable bridge that has rational mechanical performance and great practical value.
