Technology Innovation Dynamics Based on Fit Theory and System Theory——A Case Research of Pharmaceutical High-tech Firm

Growing globalization and more complex business environment are challenges that more and more high-tech firms have to face up. The essence of problem solution is not lack of competent and innovation resources, but lack of understanding changes and insufficient application of adequate management tools. This paper analyzes the technology innovation dynamics based on fit theory (ASA model, ASD model) and system theory. Three key factors are discussed in detail, including organization culture, strategic human resource management and network configuration. These factors played an important role in technology innovation. Paper also emphasizes importance of fit idea and system theory, integration concept and synergetic effect in modern high-tech firms innovation. A case research of pharmaceutical high-tech firm, Zhejiang NHU Company ltd. is analyzed in-depth according to the theory above. Generally, In the innovation course of developing the high-tech firm, the firm should shape a distinctive organizational culture of themselves and breed an active and vigorous culture innovation system; Rich network configuration can help firm build up sound inner and outer innovation environment; Strategic human resource management should match with firms innovation growth and development. All of key factors should be united in the matching and systemic mode. This mode of organization highlights the interdependencies between an organizations technology, strategy, structure and culture and how these affect organizational innovation processes and behaviors. Successful technological innovations require that either the technology be designed to fit the organizations current structure and culture or that the organizational structure and culture be reshaped to fit the demands of the new technology. Thus, the desired effects of new technology are most often realized in organizations. Innovation dynamics are to implement the additional changes that are required to maintain overall and dynamic fit.
