Planning Framework for Autonomous Decentralized Flexible Manufacturing System
This paper presents a concept of planning framework for an Autonomous Decentralized Flexible Manufacturing Systems (AD-FMS). AD-FMS has been an essential aspect for companies in modern manufacturing in order to survive. To achieve it, the concept of flexibility in AD-FMS is required because the previous manufacturing system is not enough since they cannot deal effectively with unexpected situation.Basically, flexibility is an attribute of contemporary manufacturing systems which is necessitated by the time-based competition underlying current manufacturing strategy. Generally, the frequent changes of product design and capacity requirements are the variable results from the pressure of the competitive market. The design of AD-FMS planning framework is characterized as being online, in real-time mode and of a short-term nature that responds to frequent changing of the production order. The decentralized autonomous control in Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) is able to solve dynamically some typical task of production system without using a fixed centralized control systems in term of planning and execution of orders received by one or several production planning system.In this paper, we present the AD-FMS that has been modeled as a system that consist of a multi-agent system which include several automated guided vehicles (AGV), several machining centers(MC) and product warehouse. All these agents can coordinate properly their activities through negotiation among them.
