Influencing Factors on the Technological Innovation for the Third Party Logistics
This paper will study the factors influencing the technological innovation for the third party logistics in China, pointing out the distance in the 3PL between China and other developed countries, revealing the significant effect of the technology to the 3PL. The influencing factors are divided into three major parts: technological characteristics, organizational characteristics, and environmental characteristics. The method of regression analysis is used to study the influencing effects of these factors on innovation and it can be found that they have significant influences on the technological innovation in 3PL. In addition to the exploration of determinants of innovation, this paper also studies the development of technological innovation in the 3PL enterprises in China. The innovation in 3PL technologies can be classified into four types of technologies: data acquisition technologies, information technologies, warehousing technologies, and transportation technologies. Based on our researches about technological innovation for 3PL, logistics companies can plan better strategies to construct their technological innovation systems and to make them become innovation-based logistics service providers.
