Organizational Dilemmas of Innovating SMEs in Chinas Software Industry: Technical, Market and Institutional Factors
The purpose of this paper is to identify the dilemmas of different types of innovative activities in Chinas emerging knowledge industries. We link institutions to innovation in order to assess three types of risks - technical, market and newness - and analyze the effect of institutional uncertainty on the governance of those risks. We report the findings of empirical, explorative qualitative research on 3 distinct software sectors in Hangzhou. The results provide insights in innovative competences development in Chinas emerging knowledge industries.
