Empirical Analysis: The Effect of Networks Relation to Enterprise Innovating Ability

Currently, regional economy such as industry clusters, industry parks, has shown their competitiveness for the strong innovating ability of enterprises. According to previous research, the innovating ability is mainly affected by innovation networks relation existed in enterprises. The aim of this paper is to examine effects of innovation networks relation on innovating ability of enterprises. A theoretical model is built on the basis of three constructions: innovation networks relation, both formal and informal networks; innovating ability, including a new evaluation index system of innovating ability. Seven hypotheses are extracted from the model.A SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) model based on a sample of eighty enterprises in Harbin Hi-Tech Development Zone is used to test the hypotheses. The empirical findings have important theoretical implications in three areas. Firstly, the formal networks exert a significant positive effect on innovating ability of enterprises. Secondly, the informal networks need firstly impose on the formal networks if a significant positive effect on innovating ability is needed. Thirdly, intensity and density are two optimum indexes in networks relation and contribute most to improve innovating ability of enterprises.
