Competitive Advantage and Corporate Social Perform-ance: An Empirical Examination from China
By using 30 companies listed in Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2005, this study investigated the relationship between corporate social performance (CSP) and competitive advantage. The paper designed an empirical model with employing the method of content analysis to assess CSP and eight criteria as the competitive advantage measurements.Results of panel analysis showed that CSP was positively related to competitive advantage, which supported the hypotheses. This study also found that CSP was negatively but not very strongly relative to prime operating revenue on total profit of firms.
