The Study on the Influence of Networks on the Continuous Innovation of Industrial Districts: An Empirical Study of Zhejiang Industrial Parks
Chinese industrial districts are confronted with scanty of innovation capability and market orientation, which restricts industry upgrade and sustainable development. The paper establishes network factors system for the sustainable development of industrial parks--business network, individual network, labor network and social cultural network, based in theory of network governance and focusing on two important characteristics of industrial parks: networking and embeddedness. It discusses their influence to innovation and market orientation of industrial parks with empirical studies based on the data from 13 Zhejiang industrial parks and near 200 firms. The paper finds that 4 network factors: institution denseness, cooperation of firms, competition and individual relationship are the key ones that affect innovation and market orientation of industrial parks. On the analysis of the reasons, the paper discusses the general policy system for the formation and operation of the network system.
