Definition and Analysis of Wide/Narrow Annular Oil Film Face Seal
The sliding shoe in axial piston pump is a key assembled part. Hydrostatic slipring is used as power-transferring component in dry machining, rotating connection and torsion test bed. The hydrostatic bearing is widely used in industry. Among all these applications the oil film is filled between the annular faces of the rotating part and the static part. So the annular oil film face seal is a key element for longevity and high reliability. In this paper, the leakage flux of annular oil film face seal that caused by the pressure difference between the annular seal gap and that caused by centrifugal force are figured out. The pressure distribution of annular oil film face seal under the affection of the pressure difference between the annular seal gap and that under the affection of centrifugal force are analyzed, also their formula are reached. The dimensionless pressure is defined. And the radius ratio λ is introduced. The differences of pressure results between linear distribution and logarithm distribution with different radius ratio λ are compared. Based on former analysis wide/narrow annular oil film face seal is defined. The oil film face seal is defined as narrow gap under the condition of λ <2, And the oil film face seal is defined as wide gap under the condition of λ >2. The conclusion serves as a fundamental reference for the future simplified calculation.
