An Experimental Study on the Reaction Thrust of Waterjet
Clear knowledge on the reaction thrust of waterjet is valuable for better design of waterjet propulsion system. In this research, a test-rig is established, and experiments are conducted to investigate the reaction thrust of waterjet of two different nozzles. Effects of the inlet pressure, flux as well as geometry of the nozzles are investigated particularly. And comparison analyses are performed between the two different nozzles. The experimental results show that the reaction thrust has a linear relationship with the product of the nozzle inlet flux and the square root of inlet pressure. And the results also indicate that the reaction thrust and the thrust coefficient of different nozzles are different with the same inlet power.
