Design and Simulation of a New Type of Pneumatic Extra-high Pressure Reducing Valve

A new type of pneumatic extra-high pressure reducing valve has been developed. The input pressure is up to 35MPa, and output pressure ranges from 4MPa to 25MPa. The control strategy use electric closed-loop feedback and the main valve is plunger-type structure. The pilot structure is composed of two extra-high pressure on/off valves. A nonlinear mathematical model of the valve was established for analyzing the effects of the structural parameters and controller parameters on the valves dynamic characteristics. The simulation results had been obtained by taking advantage of Matlab. The results show that the valve worked well under the designed pressure. The regulating chamber volume and the size of the pilot choke has the most important influence on the valves dynamic characteristics, and increasing the regulating chamber volume or reducing the size of the pilot choke are the most effective solutions to reduce the vibration amplitude of output pressure and improve the output pressure accuracy, but it will reduce the swiftness of the system.
