Effect of Solid Particles on Spool Valves
Solid particles cause many problems for spool valves in hydraulic system, such as contaminant wear, contaminant lock and etc. The contaminant wear mechanisms of spool valves were proposed in this paper, The experimental data showed good agreement with the proposed wear mechanisms. A formula of calculation of contaminant lock force of a single panicle on spool valves was derived and expressed as a function of clearance, walls hardnesses, particle size, and particle destructive strength.
