A Fuel Supply System for Ramjet Engines Using Hydraulic Servo Valves

Ramjet engine is one of the most important propulsion technologies in aeronautics and astronautics nowadays. Fuel supply system is always the key part in a ramjet engine. The traditional flow rate control method in the fuel supply system for ramjet engines is manual regulating, which has a low accuracy and bad repetitiveness. Automatic regulating of fuel flow rate using hydraulic proportional flow rate control valves has been developed previously. Although the accuracy of fuel flow rate proportional regulating is much higher than that of manual regulating, the regulating speed of hydraulic proportional flow rate control valves is still low.In this paper, a new kind of fuel supply system for ramjet engines using hydraulic servo valves to control the fuel supply flow rate is developed in order to overcome the shortcoming of traditional and proportional regulating methods. The schematic layout and working principle of the fuel supply system for ramjet engines are introduced. The control strategy and efficiency of the fuel supply system are analyzed and calculated. The static and dynamic experiments were carried out. The experimental results show that the fuel supply system for ramjet engines using hydraulic servo valves is able to regulate flow rate effectively and increase the accuracy and response speed of the fuel supply process.
