The Study of the Cavity Inception in the Shear Flowing Liquids with a New Criteria
The cavitation will open because the stress induced by the shear flow in the high pressure systems is larger than the cavitation threshold or the tensile strength. A new criterion is accepted in this paper which utilizes the stress state to estimate the inception of cavitation instead of the classical pressure which is a mean normal of the stress. A full cavitation model which includes the dynamics of the cavity and the incompressible gas is used to analyze the pressure and the distribution of the phase in the Ⅴ-type orifice. Comparing with the experimental data, the numerical results show a good agreement with it. Therefore, the full cavitation model could achieve a reasonable prediction for the cavity flow in the Ⅴ-type orifice.
