Research of New Roll Eccentricity Control for Cold Tandem Mill

The problem of roll eccentricity for cold tandem mill is proposed, and the influence of eccentricity on strip gauge is analyzed. The mathematical model that includes the dynamic characteristic of the hydraulic screw down system has been built. Repetitive control theory is applied to the roll eccentricity control as the roll eccentricity is a periodic disturbance related to the rotational angle of the rolls. In July 2005, a new roll eccentricity control system was successfully used at WanDa Steels works in ZhangJiaGang, China. It has contributed to improved thickness accuracy.
