Numerical Simulation on Flow Characteristics of the Fluid around Elliptic Bundles
In this paper, a numerical simulation of the flow around elliptic bundles arranging in tine, was performed by the commercial software FLUENT 6.0, For the numerical simulation, the standard κ-ε turbulence model with modified parameter κ andε was employed and solved using the software.The influence of lateral pitch and total rows of elliptic bundles on flow resistance characteristics was discussed. The obtained results show that when Reynolds numbers (Re) at 18000~36000, the resistance coefficients Eu (Average Euler numbers) decrease with Re increasing, En is higher in long-pitch bundle than those in short-pitch one. Besides, the flow resistance decreases rapidly with the increasing of tube bundle rows, however, when the row numbers amount to 8 or more, the Eu doesnt change any more.The present works have significance for designing the arranging-tube system in heat transfer exchanger or any energy exchanging equipments to minimize the energy loss.
