The Flow Simulation in Three Type High-Speed Centrifugal Impeller

Based on the Navier-Stokes equations and the Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model, three dimensional turbulent flow fields in low-specific-speed high-speed centrifugal impellers with eight blades are simulated numerically and analyzed whose three types are closed ,half-open and open. The relative velocity and pressure distributions are analyzed and compared in the flow channel of three type impellers. It is found that there all exist back flows in three impellers in which the region of back flow of closed impeller is biggest, and the static pressure in impellers rise gradually from its blade inlet to outlet whose contours are almost alone the circumferential orientation. The experiment and simulation results show that the axial clearance of impeller and the back flow in it have important influence on the performance of pump. The experimental results also show that the head coefficient of open impeller and the efficiency of half-open impeller is highest, open impeller centrifugal pump can transport the small-small media.
