Numerical Simulation and Analysis on the Control of Flow Separation in Hydrodynamic Coupling
The inner flow field of hydrodynamic coupling before and after drilling holes in the upper of turbine vanes is simulated by CFD software. The numerical results are respectively analyzed. Based on them the original characteristics of hydrodynamic coupling are calculated. Compared calculated original characteristics with the experimental characteristics, both of them tallies well. According to the analysis of the experimental and numerical results, the flow states in coupling are improved and separated flow near the vane is effectively controlled by drilling holes on the turbine vanes, and the capacity factor is also enhanced in several special speed ratios.
