Influence of Position Sensor Resolution on Accuracy of Pneumatic Position Servo
In order to be competitively with electric drives the State Controller type control is required in pneumatic cylinder driven position servos. An essential part of this controller is velocity and acceleration feedbacks. A cost effective way to realize velocity and acceleration feedback signals is to differentiate them from the position signal A general assumption is that then quite high position measurement resolution is required. To achieve high position resolution, especially for longer strokes, might cause some difficulties and extra costs. The load velocity is quite high in typical pneumatic position servo applications. In mis study it is found out that in certain type of application the position resolution can be the same order that the required positioning accuracy.
