The Application of a Fuzzy PID with Input and Output Compensation to Ship Motion Simulating Platform

In the paper, a 6-DOF Steward structure is adopted as the ship motion simulating platform, which is driven by 6 asymmetrical cylinders. After studying models of platform and that of the asymmetrical cylinder on bi-direction, a fiizzy PID controller with input and output compensation is introduced to overcome shortage of the hydraulic cylinder asymmetry and to improve control precision and response speed of the ship motion simulating platform. At last, the comparing simulation between the classic PID and the Fuzzy PID is done. The result shows that the Fuzzy PID with input and output compensation is a good way to compensate asymmetry of the hydraulic cylinder, to restrain disturbance, and to improve response speed and precision of the system.
