Development of Shields EPB Simulation System Based on Hydraulic Control Principle

A shields earth-pressure-balance (EPB) simulation system based on hydraulic control principle is proposed in this paper. The system was developed according to the mathematics model of shields EPB system. It is composed of hydraulic load simulation unit and speed control unit of screw conveyor. By regulating of hydraulic control variables and parameters, the system simulated the working situation of earth input and output, as well as the change of earth property and propulsive velocity of shield. Experiments proved that the developed systems principle is right, regulating parameter is convenient, and enhancing experiment strength is feasible. As a result, the experiment research expense on shields EPB system is reduced, and the experiment efficiency increased. The developed system provides an economical and effective means to research on scheme and characteristic of shields EPB system.
