Control Method of IHP Ship and Its Pump and Motor Design

In order to resolve the problem of several ship diesel engines propulsion together in parallel model, Integrated Hydraulic Propulsion (IHP) was put forward and its characteristic was discussed. Then, constant-power control method for IHP ship was put forward against the characteristics of IHP ship. After that, its working condition matching characteristic was studied. Results show that this method can keep diesel engines working on the best working condition, make full use of its power, prolong its life span, overcome the fault of diesel engine can not send out design power when the ship under heavy or tight load in direct propulsion model. Pump and motor, important parts of IHP system, was designed through physical analytical method. IHP method offers a new idea for ship design.
