Research on the Mechanism of Avoidance of the Pressure Depression of Externally Pressurized Gas Bearing in the Inlet Region
The method of avoidance of the sharp pressure drop in the inlet region of externally pressurized circular bearing under certain operating conditions is summarized, notably high supply pressure and large clearance. And it has been proved by theoretical calculation and experiment at supply pressure 1.0MPa that by using the hydrostatic gas lubricated bearing with tapered chamber, the inlet region pressure drop can be avoided or reduced, the ranges of both its supply pressure and gas film clearance can be expanded when the film thickness is from 20μm to 40μm. And it is concluded from the analysis of change of flow speed that the avoidance of pressure drop for bearing with tapered chamber results from the smooth change of flow passage section at the outlet of gas supply hole.
