GIS as an Instrument for Fundamental Geology Researching
Geofnformation System (GIS) Placer Deposits of Russia is the design, which combines data on different-kind placer deposits of Russia. It bases on the integrated approach to mineral resources estimation and developing and embraces different raw material groups.This project is directed at solving the fundamental problem, which is connected with investigation of the regional regularities of sedimentary deposits allocation in the Earth crust structures. The specific project task in the context of the problem is to analyze the placer deposits distribution over the territory of Russia. The basic point is the necessity to account the difference of mineral composition, range, scale and possible different-age and different-type mineralization imposed upon. The main placer-bearing mega-provinces and provinces of Russia were typificated. This typification was done under the conception of mineragenic zoning.The main peculiarities of placer mega-provinces minerageny are examined. The main age intervals, which can be characterized with industrial (and potential industrial) deposits, were distinguished. The detailed mineragenic earmarking and statistic analysis for each placer mega-province was done.
