The Quantitative Assessment of Copper Resource Potential in China Based on Geological Anomaly Theory

By using a GIS tool that always be used on analyzing and processing for spatial information, and directed by the theory of Geological Anomaly, we can make a prediction and assessment of the distribution and quantity of China copper ore resource potential. This work can not only expand the methods of prediction and assessment of resource potential, but also make some further research and application of Geological Anomaly theory quantitatively. Base on this, we extracted the anomaly information of geology, geophysics, geochemistry and other mineralization data in China directed by the theory. After compartmentalizing the research area into many cells, combined with copper ore sediments data, we analyzed and compared all cells synthetically. And we got a distribution map and a quantitative result of prediction and assessment of China copper ore resource potential. Compared this number with the results of other methods, il is close to them. For the less explored area in the west of China, the predictions highlight targets with large resource potential, providing useful information essential for strategic decision of future exploration work.
