Diversity of Mineralization in Eastern Yunnan Province, China

The earth is a complex system, in which mineralization is one of the important subsystems. The diversity of mineralization, an objective reflection of mineralization, is a mixed product of the evolutions of both interior and exterior influences, such as the mineral sources, minerogenetic environment, factors controlling mineralization and others. In eastern Yunnan province, there was stable sedimentary block from Sinian Period, which is available to form the sedimentary ore deposits and the strata-bound ore deposits. Many strata, from upper Proterozoic Subera to Pleistocene Epoch, were found to pay rocks in this area, in which mineral resources hosted in sedimentary rocks include: Fe, Mn, Cu, Pb, Zn, Ag, Au, Mo, Ni, V, U, REO, PGE, bauxite, phosphorus, barite, gypsum, peat, coal, diatomite, refractory, and so on. In this paper, we discuss the diversity of mineralization in eastern Yunnan province, and get some parameters of it, such as Ra (resources available) of 82.86%, Rp (resources potential) of 17.14%, and regional maps of Di (diversity intensity) and ID (index of diversity intensity). In addition, the relationship between ID and the geological complication is set up, and 4 preferable ore-finding areas are delineated.
