BP Neural Network Environment Quality Appraisal of Zhejiang Agricultural Soil

The Paper sets out to establish a BP Neural Network model for the quality appraisal of agricultural soil environment in accordance with the limit of Cu, Pb, Zn, As, Hg, Cr, Cd, Ni and pH prescribed by the Quality Standard of the Peoples Republic of China on Soil Environment Quality (GBI5618-1995), and carry out comprehensive appraisal of the shallow and deep soil environment quality of Zhejiang province. The appraisal result shows that the quality of shallow soil in most areas of Zhejiang province maintains natural conditions and eastern Zhejiang and central Zhejiang have relatively more points of high heavy metal element content as compared to other areas, with sample points above Grade Ⅱ exceeding 25%. The polluting points are apparently associated with counties (cities) of dense population. Especially, there are large areas of Grade Ⅱ or above soil in Ruian-Wenzhou, Taizhou-Wenling, Ningbo-Beicang with many sample points exceeding Grade Ⅲ. All the soil in some major counties (cities), such as Fenghua, Ninghai, Xiangshan, Linhai, Yuhuan, Leqing, Pingyang and Cangnan, reaches Grade Ⅱ and Grade IE quality standard with the soil of certain area exceeding the critical value for guaranteeing farming production and normal vegetable growth. The heavy metal pollution of shallow soil is apparently associated with human activities. The deep soil in the whole province basically maintains natural conditions with few points of high heavy metal element content in northern Zhejiang and central Zhejiang, which is related to subsoil.
