Copper Geochemical Anomalies Fractal Separation in a Certain Area, Northwest Yunnan Province, China

To separate geochemical anomalies, Copper geochemical data (1850 data, of which 11 were covered by water and substitute for 0) in a certain area in southwest Yunnan Province of China were analyzed by fractal dimension. The distribution histogram showed four peaks. Multi fractal analysis of primary data and background deliminated data in different times show that primary data, one time and two times background deliminaled data are all multi-scale fractal. Three-times background deliminated data are recognized as simple fractal. Hence, fractal analysis in the studied area also indicates four Cu distributions formed in different geological processes and with different mechanisms. In combination with geological settings, the four peaks in histogram and four distributions indicated by fractal analysis might be matched to four geological processes in the studied area with different mechanisms, although not one to one. This could make the anomaly area small and easy to delimitate, hence favors mineral resources prospecting.
