Fractal Analysis of Element Distribution in Damoqujia Gold Deposit, Shandong Province, China
The fractal characteristics and distribution features of the various metallogenetic elements in the orebody and the wallrocks, including the magmatic rock and metamorphic rock, in Damoqujia ore deposit, Shandong province, are analyzed via the simple fractal dimension and generalized dimension. The analysis of two fractal indexes is almost consistent. Yet the simple fractal dimension often displays multi-scale characteristics and thus is difficult to compare among different geological bodies, and the generalized dimension takes the consideration of the whole data and gets one parameter, showing more accurate characteristics. It is indicated by the generalized dimension that the main ore-forming elements, such as the Au, Ag, As, Pb, are more concentrated and homogeneous in orebody than in wallrocks. Meanwhile, it also indicated that there is centralized element precipitation in the orebody and local precipitation in the wallrocks. The ore forming process induced by the ore-forming fluid activation expressed by the chromatographic model result in the distribution irregularity of metal logenic elements, which can be described by the statistical simple fractal dimension and generalized dimension (Agterberg el al., 1996; Cheng, 1999). Using the two different indexes, the distribution of main metallogenical elements and the activation of ore-forming fluid in the orebody and various types of wallrocks in the Damoqujia deposit, Shandong province, China are studied in this paper.
